National Dance Clubs of Knoxville to Host East Tennessee DanceSport Showdown 2011
Second annual event features professional competition and draws dancers from across Tennessee.

KNOXVILLE, TN, February 10, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- National Dance Clubs of Knoxville (NDC), the longest running ballroom dance studio in Knoxville, today announced that it will host the East Tennessee DanceSport Showdown 2011. The competition is scheduled to take place on Saturday, February 19, 2011.

East Tennessee DanceSport Showdown (ETDS) is Knoxville's only dance competition offering a venue for local and regional professional dancers to compete. EDTS provides its amateur and professional dancers of all ages a forum to showcase their skills in American Smooth and American Rhythm dance styles, as well as compete for titles, cash and prizes. In addition to heated competition, timeless music, large cash prizes and a festive Mardi Gras theme, the competition will also feature performances from three professional dance couples, including three-time, Triple Crown American Smooth Champions, Sam Gordon and Tamsyn Devilliers.

"We wanted to provide the Knoxville community an opportunity personally experience professional ballroom dance and give a platform for local amateur and professional dancers alike to showcase their skills with family and friends," said Sam Gordon, owner of NDC of Knoxville. "We received such overwhelming and positive feedback from participants last year that we simply had to make the competition an annual event. We are thrilled to host ETDS again this year."

"I started dance lessons simply to learn a new skill, and I'm still dancing seven years later," said Rosalind Holman, a student at National Dance Clubs of Knoxville. "It's a great way to exercise and have fun at the same time. However, the best part about dancing is my improved confidence. I never would have dreamed that one day I would dance competitively. Yet, here I am. With all the practice and the help of the phenomenal talent of the NDC staff, I believe I can dance and win at ETDS!"
